How often do backflow preventer valves need to be replaced?

There isn’t a fixed timetable to replace a backflow preventer valve. Replacement happens when annual testing or inspection shows it can’t be repaired. Most problems are resolved with maintenance or parts (seals, gaskets, check valves, springs, relief valves). If the assembly is damaged by freezing, corrosion, or keeps failing pressure checks, we’ll install a code-compliant unit sized for your system. Licensed plumbers handle testing, repairs, installation, and file city reports if required in Fort Wayne and nearby areas.

Quick checks:

  • Schedule annual testing (typical visit: 30–60 minutes).
  • Protect the device from freezing.
  • Watch for leaks, hissing, or pressure drops.
